60 Seconds of Respect.
“For exactly One minute, between 09:59 am to 10:00 am on any specific day in the future,
let’s say 7th June 2015, 2025, 2079 or even next year. The legal system decides to stop all
legal action for 60 seconds. Stop all legal action. Only for 60 seconds.”

The one minute break in the legal system, is a break, it is not a strike “What will happen for
60 seconds on that pre-announced date?”

Illegal is legal. Rape to robbery, murder to vandalism, no case will be registered against
anybody during those 60 seconds. The question: "What will happen?" Is new to my
imagination, the most common answer is “Hell will break loose!”. But going by common
sense, nothing will go wrong because, the fear of anything going wrong will prevail.

Something we have simply taken for granted. Traffic lights will remain on, but vehicular
traffic will just stop, it’s going to be safer for me to park on the side, than to move, because
anything can happen to me. It is going to be safer to stay at home ,than to venture out.

Schools will be closed. Women won’t go to work, those who are really afraid may arm
themselves, the rest will opt to stay in safety. The world will complain days before the
announcement.

But it is also going to be very difficult for any crime to be executed in just one minute, from
start to finish. It won’t make sense, you probably can pre-plan your crime. But how many
of us normal humans want to commit such crimes? The one minute break need not even be
executed. An announcement will suffice to shock and awe citizens of the world.

We will all share a common responsibility, recognise and feel the absence of the legal system
and feel the threat of the lurking danger at such close proximity.

As we understand the important role of the normally vulnerable policeman versus our
desperate need to bribe and get away with the punishment. The policemen who protect us 24
hrs, 365 days from the time we are born to much after we are dead, and not just us, but all of
us, our loved ones and people near and dear to somebody or the other.

What has all this got to do with the Police? The answer is the cops are a part of us. He has
been taken for granted at the time of my greatest danger, he is there for me. I owe him
a better life. I owe him respect when I break the law, not my bribe, not my high handed
behaviour.

Those 60 seconds will be a wake up call.
